God Makes Everything Beautiful
by Monk Renee Plendl
“God makes everything beautiful in its time”
Ecclesiastes 3:11
In the evening, my practice is to enter into a walking meditation, a time of reconnection with Presence especially during this season of Spring, coming into awareness of new life and growth. As I quiet myself, I ask the Divine to have my eyes and ears open, to show me the deeper mystery and sacredness in each tulip, daffodil, blossom, leaf, and tree. I listen to hear the whispering of each blossom, telling their story of becoming.
As I continue to walk, I am One with all the new life springing up around me. I realize that my walk has blossomed into a prayer and I am reminded of the words of Thomas Merton, “... my whole life becomes a prayer...everything is turned into prayer...where the sky is my prayer, the birds are my prayer, the wind in the trees is my prayer, for God is all in all”.
There is a Joy flowing through me knowing that God is ever present in all things. I contemplate on what I reflect to the flowers and trees in bloom as they are awakening into this season. Am I a reflection of hope, renewal and new possibilities for these springtime mystics?
I am in deep gratitude to the Divine for making all things new and beautiful...“God makes everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). For God has set eternity in my heart, leading me into transformation, growing me into who God has created me to be.
